Pros and cons of Total Cashflow HD app for iPhone and iPad

Total Cashflow HD app good for

-- Updated Review - Feb 4, 2012 I hope the developer is swimming in money from this App. Its not as design heavy as many other budget apps, but budgets simply dont work. Its intuitive, straight forward and designed to be effective, not sexy. Cashflow is King. This app has got my finances back on track in 6 short months, consumer debts almost paid off and Im on my way to building a healthy Emergency Fund, all thanks to this App. Its the only App that would have a serious affect my life if it were to disappear! Keep up the good work. Tim --- Original Review - First Version So many financial apps neglect cash flow, which really is the basis of any overall savings/get out of debt strategy. This app replaced my clunky strenuous excel sheet in minutes. How do I use it? I enter all the big bills and transfers, income and expenses for my household to see how much I have left for food, entertainment, etc. This allows me to look at the big picture for the next 4 months, something Mint and other budget apps dont do well. My only request for the next version is a way for my wife to have access to this, she is without an iPhone/iPad. Perhaps an export to google docs or csv to email her? Even a export to PDF would work good, just view access elsewhere!
This is what a cash flow forecasting is all about, a must have for someone who needs to see future financial status. Wish that you can select multiple accounts when you do forecasting.
Ive been looking for a program to micro manage my cash for years. I eventually ended up creating spreadsheets, but they have to be manually updated weekly. This software is so user friendly and the added re-occurrence features make it practically automatic once you set up your accounts. You wont get the simple, on the go information with any large, complicated, expensive program. If you want to reduce your spending and see how things like your mortgage will look in he future buy this. Andrew

Some bad moments

Useful to plan and predict future account balance.. Could improve features such as total monthly debit / credit in recurrent payments. Bold / non bold for credits and debits in "forecast".. App user interface could improve. No "help" or FAQ or how to use info available in the app. -----—————----- App calculations totally bizarre if you travel to a different time zone. This is a vital flaw that must be corrected.
New review: what a mess, I bought this thinking I could rely on it! Cant even get an upgrade right! Also still a very cumbersome tracking mechanism. Calling the money spent on this a write-off and going back to my reliable spreadsheet. Old review: Its good so far, exactly what I want. I hope it doesnt disappoint me and make me miscalculate my balance forecast. I had other apps that disappointed me and made me create/use my own spreadsheet. Requests: 1- Please make Forecast and Graph remember which accounts I selected the next time I open. 2- Make Graph show some in between key dates. 3- Make disabling/enabling and item in Forecast show an icon in addition to gray color. 4- Rearranging icons doesnt work (iOS 7) would like forecast to be first to show when app opens.
This, overall, is a great app to help you manage your expenses. It is exactly what I was looking for. You are able to budget, by adding future expenses. You can then modify the expenses to match what they actually were once they have taken place. Those that dont change are already there so it is less work than tracking budget and actuals. It does need a few enhancements to make it complete. 1. I would like to be able to have more control of the order of transactions within a date (I want my credits first). Sometimes it looks as if Im short when I really wont be. 2. I would like to be able to categorize expenses and then have a monthly report that shows the categories down the side and the days across the top, with balances, so I can see everything in one page. If I had those 2 things I would give this app 5 stars.
Update: On August 6 I updated my review with a suggestion to add a feature to sync information between devices. Three days later, on August 9, Dropbox sync support was supported. That makes this app almost perfect for people who want to budget in a forecasted cash flow mode. Should be a top 50 financial app. ----- Original Review Below ------ I have been looking for an app that can give me a forecast for my various accounts over time and this works very well. The override function is nice. It lets you put in budgets or approximations for repeating bills and then override the next payment once you know the actual bill without messing up your future forecast. Great for things like utility bills that vary. This is a great tool for me to motivate myself to control discretional spending by looking at the impact of "holding the line" over time.
This app is almost exactly what I wanted to make. While I bought it and am very happy with it, having a popup calendar interface to edit in would make it nearly perfect in my eyes. Itd also let the user see day-to-day account balance. Very nice app! Thank you!
Very nice easy to use app to predict and plan cashflow. -Supports Multiple Accounts -Add - Re-occuring debits, credits and transfers -Portrait and Landscape views -Graphs -Syncs with Dropbox if you have it on multiple devices -E-mail PDF reports.
